GOP Township Incumbents to be Challenged Tuesday

Bruce Sisler and Scott Rosenbush will defend their Township Committee seats against Democrat challengers Ron Goldberg and Judy Stein; two Republican Morris Plains Council members are running unopposed.

While Hurricane Sandy has dominated the headlines, on Tuesday, registered voters are being asked to switch their attention to who they would like to see elected both locally and naitonally.

Registered voters can head to the polls vote from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 6 in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains.

There are no local races in Morristown, while two Republican incumbents in Morris Plains, Laurie Fu and Joseph Cecala Jr., are running unopposed.

In the township there are four candidates running for two available seats on the Township Committee. Republican incumbents Bruce Sisler and H. Scott Rosenbush are defending their seats against Democrats Judy Stein and Ron Goldberg—the latter of which held a seat on the committee until 2010.

Sisler and Rosenbush told Patch earlier this year before primaries that cutting taxes and maintaining services are among the most important issues in the township.

Read more about the GOP candidates' views and bios here.

Democrat Ron Goldberg served previously on the Township Committee from 2008 through 2010, and is presently a member of the township's environmental commission and open space committee. He has said roads are becoming more crowded, as there have been more expansions of buildings recently.

A former adjunct lecturer at Columbia University and New York City Deptartment of Health and Mental Hygiene employee, Stein joined the ticket following the dropping out of previous Democrat candidate Noel Robinson.

In the township, polls will be open at 12 different locations for the 23 districts. Polling location changes due to Hurricane Sandy-related damage have not been announced. Regardless of whether you are satisfied with the storm response from the incumbent Committeemen, I rather doubt you are ok with Bruce Sisler's after midnight threatening calls to a resident. Sisler's calls were made during the pendency of the Honeywell Corporate Welfare Rezoning, and these despicable calls were made to a critic of the rezoning who also criticized Sisler's conflicts of interest. You can listen to the audio here: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=mJonhJc8ArA

Sisler tells your neighbor he looks like a jackass. Sisler curses, frustrated that his conflict of interest is suddenly under scrutiny.

If you care about American values, you shouldn't vote for Sisler. If you care about proper decorum from your anointed leadership, you cannot vote for Sisler.

Nor can you vote for Rosenbush. Rather than condemning Sisler's clearly unacceptable malfeasance, Rosenbush has embraced his embarrassed running mate. Evidently closing ranks is more important to this good old boy network than honoring the public trust they are charged with defending.

Vote.

Neither Sisler nor Rosenbush have embraced open government. Jeff Grazel has sent emails out- explaining in real language, not politically motivated, but straight instructional talk- about where we all are in Morris Township after Sandy. It's the old Boy club in Morris Township where they rubber stamp and quell any dissension to the "powers that be".. Bullies, I post under my own name so unless you do the same, save your comments. .

Did Sisler and Rosenbush, not to mention Mancuso, do anything at all during this crisis? Have they done anything to lead or to help? I have received frequent updates and helpful information from both Ron Goldberg and Jeff Grayzel. There seems to be nothing from the incompetent Republicans who are so gleefully destroying our township.

Our family will vote for Sisler and Rosenbush - leadership that we can count on!

No amount of negative campaigning will change the fact that Sisler and Rosenbush have worked tirelessly for our community.

Smaller more efficient government; a transparent communication process; connection to the community and, most important, positive and decent men. Perfect men? No, but perfection is for the divine.

Sisler and Rosenbush deserve our support - join me in voting Republican today! Remember our town and vote all the way down!

President Obama and the Democrat candidates are wrong for our country and the Corzine Democrat challengers in Morris Township are wrong for our community. Delay Honeywell? Create more unions? Destroy private and public sector jobs? Increase our taxes? No thank you!

Vote Sisler & Rosenbush!

Thanks for your post, Warren. I'd much prefer it if our elected officials would behave themselves -- or at least condemn the reprehensible actions of Sisler. Its one thing to have a lapse in judgment.. To harass a citizen because the citizen criticized you? Outrageous, If you're gonna be in government, you need to step away from the bottle and grow a thicker skin. America is a place where skinheads still can spew the most offensive neo-Nazi garbage. Surely a Township resident can criticize a conflicted Committeeman.

Worst of all though is Rosenbush provides cover for his runningmate rather than condemns his actions. Mancuso can't seem to wipe the grin off his face and Caffrey looks perpetually bewildered. Not a word of criticism from any of them. In fact, rather than criticize Sisler, Mancuso gave a speech about how great a guy Sisler is!

Vote.

I received a Robocall from Ron Goldberg the other evening. He was stating that somehow storm relief efforts and a quick return of power to my home if he was in office! I am disgusted and Mr. Goldberg is quite desperate to use Sandy to garner votes!!! I still don't have power in my home but Mr. Goldberg will not get my vote.

@Maura: We didn't have power til yesterday afternoon. Others still have no power. No one contacted me at all. Thank goodness Sisler didn't call me at 1 am to threaten me for exposing his bizarre, despicable behavior.

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed that no one among Sisler, Rosenbush, Mancuso, Caffrey or Mills has yet to defend Sisler's midnight threats to a resident?

Bizarre that you would withhold a vote for Goldberg because he called and told you he'd do something for you but you will vote for Sisler who called a resident at 1 am and threatened him.

No disrespect intended, but you might want to adjust your priorities.

HUH????????????

Sisler called a resident after midnight, awakened said resident's family and said things like:

"Do you ever ask yourself if you look like a jackass?"

"What's your game pal? What's your game? Is beating the crap out of the Township Committee your game?"

"You're not pointing out (expletive. What you're pointing out is bull(same expletive)."

Ummm, this sounds pathological to me.

Tell me, Maura, do you think Sisler's behavior disqualifies him from holding elected office? If not, why not?

I can't wait to read your answer.

No, I have no political ax to swing. And I could care less about Honeywell, which is not in my backyard. The political ax that was drunkenly brandished was Sisler's. But it wasn't an ax. It was a phone, used to threaten a resident at 1 am.

Tell me Marta, does Sisler's malfeasance -- threats about a pending ordinance -- disqualify him from serving on the Town Committee?

If not, why not?

Let's hear your answer. I am not on the ballot today, sisler is. So ell us why he should get our vote, even though he purposefully interfered with a matter pending before the body politic upon which he sits.

Thanks for asking!! Before I answer, I'd like to point out to everyone that you don't sign your name because you are Bruce Sisler. And you haven't offered any reason why anyone should tolerate your despicable behavior and allow you to sit on the Township Committee. You haven't offered any reason because your reprehensible behavior is inexcusable. Period. If you have something to say in defense of your after midnight threatening phone calls to residents who participate in their Town's governance, we're all still waiting to be enlightened.

As far as the lawsuit is concerned, the complaint is coming along nicely, though it was interrupted by the hurricane. But that's ok. For those who are interested, the centerpiece of the lawsuit is that the Honeywell Ordinance must be struck down because there is no legal basis for allowing Sisler to vote. That's because there is no way to somehow cleanse Sisler's purposeful interference with a matter pending before the Township Committee such that he may thereafter participate in the hearings and then cast a vote.

There is no claim for damages. Just to hold Sisler accountable in a court of law for his illegal bullying.

Your reference to another law suit that I recently resolved, to my satisfaction, is indeed relevant. Anyone who wants to google it and read about is welcome to. I agreed in the settlement agreement to limit my remarks to "I am satisfied with the settlement." And, indeed, I am.

Well, Bruce, are you arguing that you called a resident in the middle of the night to threaten him because his criticism "pushed you" to do it? That's what it sounds like you're saying.

You cannot defend your actions because they are indefensible. Rosenbush is an embarrassment for not speaking up and speaking out and calling you what you are: a bully who doesn't belong in government. Period.

Now if you don't like what I write, you are NOT permitted by law to threaten me or attack me. If you do, you will be prosecuted.

And if you want anyone to believe that you aren't Bruce Sisler, then sign your name. Coward.
