Police ID Lake Parsippany Woman Killed in Route 10 Crash
23-year-old woman's vehicle left roadway, struck tree and caught on fire Thursday night, police say.
Parsippany Police have identified the woman killed in a car accident on Route 10 Thursday night.
Police say 23-year-old Katelyn Ackerman, of Lake Parsippany, was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center as a result of the incident.
According to police, Ackerman was driving along Route 10 when her car left the roadway, struck a tree near Powder Mill Road and caught fire.
Responders were called to the scene just after 7 p.m., after passing motorists reported an occupant was trapped inside a 2006 Chevy Cobalt that was on fire.
Police said the engine fire was extinguished by passing motorists who stopped to render assistance with their own extinguishers.
Police are investigating what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
Ackerman was taken by the Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad to Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Police said she was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Mt. Tabor Volunteer Fire District 1 and Parsippany Rescue and Recovery were at the scene to assist, police said.
Parsippany accident investigators and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the PPD at 973-263-4300.

Didn't witness the crash but attempted to help. We got the fire out. We were relieved. We thought we could save her. I'm so sorry Katie, to you, your family. I wish we could've done more. To her family, I promise you, we did all we knew to do, she was cared for. My entire heart wanted to save her, get her out, get her help. She was not left alone. Complete strangers banned together, for this beautiful young girl, to do everything we could. I never met her, and I'm forever changed. I was able to see her Facebook and the overwhelming impact she had on EVERYONE she met, and now didn't meet. She truly was a blessing to this world. My heart aches for those who loved her, and those unfortunate to have never met her.

I am so sorry about your Katie. I didnt know her or anything but my mom's friend who she works with knows her and so does her son. I live right where the accident had happened, didn't see it actually happen. I did see a tow truck driver putting out the fire and a lot of people pulled over trying to help. My heart goes out to you & your family.

Clean up the wine spill as soon as it happens. Start by mixing dish detergent and warm water together. Add enough detergent to make the mix sudsy. Doing this immediately will not allow the acids in the wine to damage the tile. If you do this right after the spill, you can wait a couple of hours before continuing to tackle the stain. Thanks a lot.

Ancient Eastern nations began the tradition of creating rice wine. This is why sake is one of the oldest types of this alcoholic beverage. Thanks.
