Home Burglary Probed in Morris Township

Forced entry was gained to the home through a back door.

Morris Township Police responded Tuesday to a reported home burglary on Normandy Parkway near Featherleigh Road.

A police statement said forced entry was gained through a rear door, and several valuable items were removed from the master bedroom.

Police said the incident likely occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday and ask anyone who saw any suspicious activity at that time to call Morris Township police at 973-539-0777.

Police encourage residents to be alert and report any suspicious vehicles or persons to police.

They also recommend the following steps to protect your home:

  • Turn on interior and exterior lights at sunset.
  • If you are going out of town, do not let mail or newspapers pile up. Ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your home while you are gone.
  • Keep brush and trees well trimmed around doors and windows, to make them more visible from neighbors' homes--and therefore less attractive to burglars.
