Morristown Medical Among Nation's Best, Survey Says
Local hospital placed in top 5-percent of medical centers in America.
Morristown Medical Center is a major hospital and treatment center for Morris County and beyond.
And now it's being recognized as one of the best in the nation, according to Healthgrades, a group of websites offering medical information since 1998.
In its annual ranking of the country's top 5-percent of medical centers, six of New Jersey's treatment facilities were named, with Morristown Medical Center being one of them.
The hospitals were ranked by Healthgrades after an extensive performance evaluation in 27 different categories. Centers receiving the company's Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence needed to garner approval in 19 of the 27 categories evaluated.
For a full list of the nation's top hospitals, read the PDF attached to this article.
Located at 100 Madison Avenue, Morristown Medical Center is home to Goryeb Children's Hospital, Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute and Carol G. Simon Cancer Center. It is the official hospital of the New York Jets, New Jersey Devils and offers a comprehensive sports medicine program, and is part of the Atlantic Health System.

I have been under the care of Morristown Memorial Hospital on several occasions and I have nothing but good things to report regarding this institution. The staff is compiled of well qualified, caring and committed individuals.

Really?!? I've heard how dangerous the emergency room has become: they've cut tech staff way down in the past few years, so care isn't as thorough and careful as it once was. How many tech staff are on each shift in each section of the ER? I think it's one, maybe two now, vs. 3 or 4 a few years ago. Scary.

I have always felt very fortunate to have this wonderful hospital in our town. I have been to the ER on several occasions and beside the wait, it has been a good experience. Betsy, be careful believing what "you hear".

Pretty straightforward, I'd think, to do your own due diligence and discover if what I "hear" is true. Everybody reading this call or go to the hospital and ask.

Everyone always should do their own due diligence. Can you tell us your source of information and what kind of direct, negative experience you may have had with the hospital?

"Morristown Medical Center is a major hospital and treatment center for Morris County and beyond."
Your welcome everyone who is not a Morristown taxpayer! - My taxes go toward subsidizing this ever expanding "tax exempt" Behemoth as heavy lift air ambulances bang away 500 feet over my house on their way to and from there. "Approximately one-third of Morristown, the county seat, is tax-exempt. That property includes county and court buildings and Morristown Memorial Hospital."

When you bought your house you must have known the hospital was there. What self centered comments you make. You have the option of moving from this wonderful town instead of complaining. A hospital is a necessity in life and I'm pretty sure the hospital came 1st!

Sam, he's right. The hospital keeps growing in terms of for-profit businesses but they don't want to pay their taxes.

Betsey- "I think...I heard..." is worthless information."Each 'section' of the ER has 1 maybe 2 techs on".... What? ... Your ill-informed comments are ridiculous. and come from an even more ridiculous source...the grapevine!...SCARY!
Start by reading the article. The Hospital has been ranked
top 5% in the nation. Next time, before you comment....please do your "due diligence"!

I hate being so stupid. Thanks for straightening me out, Sam.
Btw, comments didn't come from the grapevine, but from someone who works there. Someone reliable. By posting it here, I'm hoping to prompt others, particularly those of us who live in Morristown and may some day need the ER, to.....ask.

Sam - Your comments are self-righteous, condescending and dripping with distain - not a good look on anyone.
