New Start Times and Bus Routes for Plains Schools

The Morris Plains School District has made several changes to the 2012-2013 school year, including a for both Mountain Way and Borough Schools.

Starting in the fall, students at both schools will start their day 20 minutes earlier than previous years. Arrival time for Mountain Way students will be between 8 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. The school day will begin at 8:20 a.m.

Borough School students can arrive between 7:55 a.m. and 8:05 a.m., and the day will start at 8:05 a.m.

Dismissal times will remain the same, with Mountain Way School ending at 2:50 p.m., and Borough School at 3:00 p.m.

For dealyed openings, Mountain Way will begin at 9:50 a.m., and Borough School will begin at 9:35 a.m.

Early Dismissal days will begin at the same time as regular session days, and students at both schools will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m.

District Superintendent Dr. Ernest Palestis said that the district is now closer to state average in terms of the length of school days.

The state average for both schools is 5 hours and 42 minutes. Borough School is now above the state average at 5 hours and 48 minutes, and Mountain Way is still slightly under at 5 hours and 25 minutes.

There will also be new bus routes for the 2012-13 that will posted on the district website at the beginning of August.

Kindergarten students will receive their bus route information in the mail.
