Photos: Work Begins at Site of 9-11 Memorial

Volunteers promise 9-11-11 completion.

"If we have to work 24-7, we will have this done by September 9, 2011,” said Bob Webster of the Morris Plains Volunteer Fire Department, speaking at the site of the Morris Plains 9-11 memorial.

“To me, it just guys working hard to get something done together,” said fellow volunteer Joe Barlotta.

Both men were among those on-hand for the first day of digging at the site, which is located at the intersection of Routes 53 and 202. Though the talk among the volunteers was lighthearted, their dedication to memorializing those who lost their lives nearly ten years ago was clear. Members of the Morris Plains Rotary, The Morris Plains Volunteer Fire Department, The Morris Plains Police Department, and the Minutemen are all working to see that this project is completed on time.
