Morris. Twp's Ricca Named to College Board

Morris Township man elected treasurer of the board

A Morris Township man is among the new trustees at County College of Morris Board of Trustees.

Dr. Joseph L. Ricca was welcomed to the board at the annual reorganization meeting on November 16. The new members were appointed by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Ricca, superintendent of schools for the East Hanover Township Public School District,  previously served as a principal, vice principal for student affairs and social studies instructor. He is member of numerous professional associations including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. He earned his Ed.D. in educational leadership from Walden University, his M.Ed. in administration from Harvard University,  an M.A. in educational leadership and administration from Caldwell College, and a B.S. in history and education from Seton Hall University.

East Hanover is a kindergarten through eighth grade school district with 1126 pupils in three schools, the Frank J. Smith School, Central Elementary School and the East Hanover Middle School and an $18,350,000 budget.

Also named to the board were Cynthia E. Samuel of Parsippany, a school nurse in Irvington, Dr. Joseph S. Weisberg, also of Parsippany, professor emeritus of geoscience at New Jersey City University, who currently serves as a consultant for curriculum and construction projects at the university.

Re-appointed to another term by the freeholders was Trustee Stanley T. Omland, PE, P.P., of Cedar Knolls.

Another Morris Township resident, Thomas A. Pepe, was elected treasurer of the board.

Other officers are: Jeffrey M. Advokat, Esq. of Denville, chair; Omland, vice chair; and  Dr. Kathleen C. Serafino of Wyckoff, secretary.

Pepe, a former banking executive, is chief financial officer of Communications Strategies, Inc., a public relations and marketing communications firm based in Madison. He was first appointed to the CCM board in 2009. He is a volunteer with Patriots’ Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as council president, and over the years has assisted his alma mater, Manhattan College, with various fundraising and student mentoring activities. He holds an MBA in finance from Adelphi University and a B.S. in mathematics from Manhattan College.
