Saturday Concert in Morris Plains to Benefit Fisher House, for Military Families Facing Illness

Chas Ricci and GivBac will perform.

On Saturday, March 26, VFW Post 3401 in Morris Plains is holding a benefit concert to raise funds for the Fisher House Foundation. Fisher Houses are something like military versions of Ronald McDonald Houses, places for families to stay while loved ones get medical treatment. The group got its start when one of the founder's relatives saw a sailor sleeping on the street and learned that his wife was receiving medical treatment nearby, but he could not afford a hotel room.

The concert will feature Chas Ricci, a singer and songwriter of country, folk and humorous music, and GivBac, a group of six Jersey guys who call themselves "the benefit band," playing classic rock and blues.

According to Ken Findlay, GivBac's drummer, "One night at rehearsal, (a band member) had the idea to play only for benefits, to GIV*BAC for all the joy music has given us the last forty plus years. The whole band lit up like the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. LET’S DO IT! was the only response. It has given us a new enthusiasm and excitement to play."

Chas Ricci said, "I am looking forward to performing that night and giving something back to the Fisher House Foundation, which is a very worthy organization. Hopefully we'll have a sell out that night."

The concert will be held on Saturday, March 26 at the Morris Plains VFW 3401, 45 Tabor Road, from 7:30–11 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the post canteen and $10 at the door. All funds go to the Fisher House Foundation.
