UPDATED: Snooki and JWoww Coming to Morristown

Filming for 'Jersey Shore' spinoff series expected to begin Aug. 9.

The Jersey Shore is coming to Morristown.

No, the Atlantic Ocean is still due East. 495 Productions, the production company for the MTV-aired Jersey Shore spinoff series "Snooki & JWoww"—featuring Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "JWoww" Farley—has advised the town they will be filming for the show's second season in Morristown starting next month.

Filming is expected to begin Aug. 9 and run through Oct. 14, according to Jordan Nefouse, of 495 Productions.

"These dates are subject to change by a few days and we'll of course keep you up to date," he wrote.

They will not be living in Morristown, the letter states. With a baby due in September, Polizzi, a New York native, recently moved into the East Hanover home of Jionni LaValle, her fiance and father of the baby, who will be named Lorenzo.

A crew of up to 10 and two to three cameras will follow the two reality TV mainstays, who "will walk down public sidewalks to privately owned locations such as bars, clubs and restaurants which have been pre-cleared for them to enjoy their evenings," Nefouse wrote.

Mayor Tim Dougherty admitted to having never seen "Snooki & JWoww," or "Jersey Shore," noting he first thought the name "JWoww" referred to a man.

While he said the town is not closed-minded to any production company wanting to use Morristown for their shoots, the safety and quality of life of the residents comes first.

"The Town Council is aware of it. I have had a conversation with my Business Administrator (Michael Rogers) about it," the mayor said. "I would like to talk to the police chief (Peter Demnitz) about it and what the town would have to do logistically.

"We have had other production companies come and film in Morristown without incident," Dougherty said, noting a commercial was shot in town earlier this summer.

"We're a very happening town. The downtown is very vibrant," he said. "I just have to sit down with the chief, BA, council president (Michelle Dupree-Harris) and look at logistics, how it affects downtown, our citizens. Is it going to have a negative or positive effect? We just want to make sure it's not disruptive to our citizens."

The mayor noted Wednesday there currently is no permit process for production companies that want to film in Morristown. He said in light of "Snooki & JWoww" and the pending filming, officials are discussing the potential for some sort of permit process being put in place.

Their disgusting behavior and all of their trashy friends belong in Seaside Heights, not in a family-oriented community like Morristown. It's a horrible idea for the town. What good could possibly come of it?!? I suggest the mayor watch about 15 minutes of one of their "shows" and decide if he still thinks it's a good idea! Don't the residents of the town have any say in what is allowed to happen here?! The poor people at 40 Park haven't seen anything compared to what these low-lifes will bring to that area of town. What an absolute shame!! The mayor of Hoboken told them "NO" and so should we! I do not want my children growing up in Sleaside Heights!

.... Lighten up, Francis. "Family oriented community like Morristown"? Really? Go walk the streets of your "family oriented community" around midnight on a Saturday. Those aren't mom and dad and the kiddies stumbling out of all those bars and clubs.

THE SHOW THEY ARE FILIMG IN MORRISTOWN IS NOT JERSEY SHORE. Don't you people actually read the article before commenting. It's a spinoff. I have seen a few episodes and it is way more civilized than Jersey Shore. How about doing your research before slandering people, especially your own towns elected officials. AGAIN, THE SHOW THEY ARE FILIMG IN MORRISTOWN IS NOT JERSEY SHORE. So stop saying this or that happens on Jersey Shore so it gonna happen here. IT'S NOT THE SAME SHOW. And they aren't even living in Morristown, they will just visit a few times.

Yeah, it's called 'voting.'. You should try it sometime.

Oh, and Anonymous, if that is your real name, how naive are you that you don't think the same shenanigans that happen on Jersey Shore won't happen on this show? It's the entire reason these creatures exist.

I'm not all about them coming to Morristown either but saying it's a "horrible idea" is not exactly right either. This will probably bring a lot of exposure to the town and hopefully from that, a lot of exposure for businesses. Maybe you should read other Patch articles talking about shops and restaurants closing down all the time in Morristown and compare that to when the last Seaside Heights boardwalk shop closed down -- I bet ours happened more recently. The reasons I want this dynamic duo to stay out of Motown is strictly for selfish purposes (more empanadas, beers and Cluck-U chicken for me!). But, logically, I don't think the mayor and/or police chief would sign off on anything that they believed would hurt our town. Chill, yo.

Hey Morristown Mom - You sound like a real...uptight, over protecting, crazy mother. Just because the Green holds a few 'family orientated' events thru out the year does not make it the beautiful quaint little town you are deliriously imagining in your head. Maybe you forgot, but we have a pretty large heroine district right down on speedwell, an overabundance of illegal immigrants, and a recent increase in crime. I know you turn a blind eye towards many of these issues, probably make your kids close their eyes and put ear muffs on when driving on speedwell or near the train station. Nonetheless, your outrage over a tv show being filmed is comical, nonsensical and just dumb. The revenue that this city will gain not just from the month or so of filming, but from the exposure of people seeing the bars/restaurants completely trumps any negative impact they might cause. "Oh NO! a drunk girl is falling over herself on the sidewalk, the town looks soooo trashy"...Guess what, go sit on one of those benches in the green on a friday or sat night, guarantee you will see more than girl falling over...Now get back to setting all your parental controls on your TV weirdo.

Hey Morristown Dad - First of all, the correct spelling is "heroin", not "heroine"...two very different meanings.
I have read yours and other posts on this topic that bring up the issues of illegal immigrants and drug problems that are currently in Morristown... so it sounds like you are basically using the rationale that since we have pre-existing problems, it's acceptable to add another mess to the mix.
BTW, I proudly set my parental controls and I am very proud to have descent, respectable children. Mothers that try to raise their kids with morals in an increasingly difficult entertainment environment are not "Weirdos" as you like to call us. I am so tired of having trash celebrities as 'celebrities'. I don't want to have to explain to my kids why we are sitting in traffic in town for this tramp that is famous for nothing but being a tramp on tv. I truly feel sorry for her son that will have to endure watching videos of his mother someday. She is an embarrassment to herself, our state, and the real NJ shore.

Snooki is the least of your worries. I know Police/Fire/EMS personnel that work in Morristown. The amount of stories I hear about the domestic violence that occurs every day and illegal immigrants setting people on fire and killing each other, that is so much more acceptable. I'd say high crime and people setting other people on fire is a very family oriented town. Give me a break. We are at war, shootings are occurring, and innocent people are being murdered every day. Worry about more important things. Not about a girl going to the bars, she's not even going to drink she's pregnant.

Morristown Mom - It's "decent" not "descent." Two very different meanings ;)

I don't particularly appreciate you referring to Seaside as "trashy" and "sleezy." While it certainly doesn't have the same allure it had years ago, the presence of the Jersey Shore over the last 5 years has re-stimulated local businesses. There are substantially more jobs available during the season and virtually every business has had the opportunity to completely remodel their establishment.

Couple that with the fact that new luxury condominiums are being erected, attracting wealthy families seeking a summer home and you're seeing the resurrection of Seaside Heights.

Yes - MTV depicts the antics of the TV show as raunchy and god-awful. But the one girl is PREGNANT. How much damage could she really do?

If nothing else, their presence will inject additional revenue into Morristown. It will NOT kill it.

So we will not allow a bowling alley into the town because it COULD bring more drinking and bad behavior to the town was denied. But a TV with it's only purpose to promote drinking and even worse behavior is going to be allowed. I hope the 3 months of revenue we might get is more than what a bowling alley would have brought.

What in this world is he thinking? The bowling alley got turned down because of 40 Park yet Dougherty allows "Iron Bar"right underneath it and welcomes pregnant pooping Snooki to town. What a joke

I can't stand Jersey Shore either. But it's not for a guy called a "mayor" to decide what consenting private citizens or businesses do within a town or city. It's government's job to stand aside and let people trade and interact as they want to within the constraints of the laws. If you disagree with the bars that allow them to film, tell the bars and make it clear you won't patronize them. Boycott them. It's up to the market (you and others and bar owners) to decide who wins and who loses from this. It's not up to some guy called a mayor to tell you, or us, or anyone else what they can or can't do if they are not infringing on the rights of others. You may not like Jersey Shore and may want the mayor to nix their plans, but then you have to accept the fact that he can nix any plans that you are support, as well. When the mayor decides what happens and what doesn't, his or her office just becomes a hotbed of politics, graft, bribes and the connected.

So having a professional film crew tape a meaningless show for a few days is worse than having illegal immigrants hanging out day and night around the train station area, or having 30 of them living in one house? Or it's worse than homeless people hanging out on The Green? Those are real, constant problems afflicting our great, historic town, not Snooki visiting for a few days.

What, if any ordinances are on the docket regarding film permits? If they had to apply for a permit, they could have been turned down with cause, and this would have been a non-issue. If the Town Council does not have any filming ordinances, then it's fair game and the production company the right to shoot throughout town.

The show isn't going to be called "snooki and jwow take over morristown" so what's the big deal, people?! If you think Morristowns a so-called "perfect" town without these 2 girls being filmed there here and there, then you're all living in a dream world. This shows such lack of judgement in Morristown's elected officials. If you followed the news, the city of Rome hated the cast of Jersey Shore being in their city, and showed it. Why bring such controversy here? Rethink this and politely say no. Television these days seems to make stars of people that behave in horrendous ways. Morristown has more class than that. It's not worth the small amount of revenue that it will bring in.

What Mo'Town Mom described DOES actually occur in Mo'Town now..NOT just the Jersey Shore (tv) " intoxication to the point of vomiting & urinating in public, having sex with whoever bought your last drink of the night, etc." Look out your windows at bar closing time..same behavior is here now. Jersey Shore (tv) just glorifies it. We could do without it. Traffic is bad enuff in town w/out film crews & more hitting our roads. How many Production staffers? Make-up staffers, alone, could clog these little streets. (joking). I don't think these are "hateful" posts..just concerned residents who already put up with enough "exciting" ill-behaved bar patrons. Has nothing to do w/ race/color/creed/nationality. It's simply bad behavior anywhere it might occur. Hope the town is receiving enuff $ to pay for addit'l police/security/traffic presence that will be required. Doubt the town will make the production company provide their own security the entire time they're here. Street closings? Poss...Snooki & baby Snooks on the Green? Most likely. Traffic jams? You bet. We shall see what happens when it happens. Wonder if she will have her baby at MMC or will she go back to NY to give birth. We shall see as it all unfolds later on. This isn't a "tragic" event like Colo as one writer mentions but it is an unnecessary event which could be stopped ahead of time.

Posting all of these hateful posts about a fellow "mom" (Snooki) is pretty harsh. She made some pretty bad decisions as an adolescent down the shore. I prey, your karma come full circle for your hatred and you dont have a daughter that does the same! All girls from This area (yes i know skooki is from ny) but At least she made MILLIONS doing it..who are you to judge her? Judge her on what she's doing and how she's changed..lm sure you would have crucified her if she had an abortion anyway.
Morristown just happens to be the closest area near East Hanover that has decent nightlife and reatraunts. You should be thanking certain 40 park residents if anyone is to blame for makeing a mess for the the local bars. Those businesses (other than Iron) were there WAYYY before they moved in, and they had an open house before they bought their condo, so it's no ones fault but their own! I'm sick of hearing about these tenants complain about this!

Somethin TO Say - "Snooki" IS the Jersey Shore. If you ask anyone who she is, they are not going to tell you what a wonderful new mother or role model she is. "The Jersey Shore" has made our entire state a joke to everyone in this country. The idea of it being brought to my town is infuriating!!

I am sad that I have to hear about this. Morristown isn't very classy. There are way too many homeless, illegal immigrants loitering, waiting for jobs(handouts) and now we add filth to the streets. I don't care if she is pregnant, she is a no- talent joke and I don't want to bump into that ridiculous entourage when I'm trying to get a bite to eat. I have to deal with drunks on my street every weekend. Now it is going to cause a new influx of people trying to catch a glimpse of this train wreck of tv. Cancel the show completely and problem solved.

A substantial part of the movie, "One True Thing," made from Anna Quindlen's novel, was filmed in a house on Farragut Place in Morristown. The town survived nicely, and I am sure it will survive Snooki as well. The film crews will probably be a nuisance mainly to the bar patrons--if you don't want to be bothered by them, stay out of the bars, and eat at Nara, Caffe India, HIbiscus, or Marjan.

It's not about "disturbing you" and "looking away" -- these people are gross, period. As someone who just moved to Morristown because of its awesome downtown area (bars included), I'd rather not have to sign a waiver to get into Darkhorse or Frog just because two idiots are sitting at the bar too.

Sure, they're trash, but can everyone just relax? They're not setting up shop here; it'll be some brief filming then everyone will forget about it. I'd be happier if the town said "No" but people here are acting as if the town will devolve into something like the worst neighborhood in Detroit.

This is going to royally screw any business that depends on walk-in trade (read "bars and restaurants"). Who's going to want to wander around when there's a gang of reality-show "idols" (or is that idiots?), plus film crews, plus "security", crawling around town ?

Revenues? I seriously doubt that importing this shoreline refuse into Morristown is going to increase revenues. And it will further damage the town's already-deteriorating reputation.

All of the 20-somethings who frequent the bars to get wasted will. People are obsessed with anybody who is remotely a celebrity. Filming here won't affect revenues in the least. If anything, they will rise.

This is an opportunity for Morristown to demonstrate on national TV that we have have wonderful historic town and that our police can control our downtown when they have the Mayor's support. Snookie from what I hear is attempting to improve her image now that she's pregnant. Our right to life groups can have rallies to support her decision to have this baby. She can go to great shows at the Community Theater and get some frozen yogurt afterwards. Our police can show that our downtown may be booming but that its not the bars that brought its success but some great new shops and resturants. Snooki and JWow can purchase some sharp new clothers from our stores. They can eat and party safely under the watchful eye of our local officials Just don't let the girls bring any cans of white spray paint when they come into our town.

I'm 25 years old and I also agree that I don't want those trashy idiots in Morristown. I like living in a nice neighborhood and being able to go out by the green and have some fun and drink. If they come here though, this town will be turned upside down. People will load the bars, drunk muscle heads will be fighting, and there will be raging trashy girls running around everywhere. There's a reason why the show got kicked out everywhere they went. I really hope this doesn't happen. This in no way, shape or form is a good way to "demonstrate on national TV that we have have wonderful historic town". You think they are gonna film the historic sites? There are gonna film muscle heads getting into fights, girls brawling, and acting like drunken idiots in our town. This is Morristown not seaside heights, hoboken, or any other of those places.

I think it is a great idea to bring the girls here for some filming. I think it will do good for Morristowns small business and bring some money into this town. Perhaps now, maybe some of the vacant shops will be rented and something other then frozen yogurt will show its face. Or,because of the "fame" of these girls , more people will want to come to morristown to eat, drink, and spend their money keeping our small town business alive long after they have gone do to the national recognition of the show. I'm sorry, but it's time to start thinking outside of the box and put our personal opinions to the side and look at this as an opportunity for our town to experience "potential" financial growth due to the exposure of a few weeks of filming.

As a professional employed in and living in town that goes out on the weekends, I can honestly say the town is just nowhere near as bad as people on this site make it out to be. It's a shame that everyone disparages such a great town to live in.

If Snookie and Jwoww roaming your town is your biggest problem today: YOU WILL BE OKAY. If a bowling alley opening in your town is your biggest problem today: YOU WILL BE OKAY. If a drunken 21 year old throwing up on your lawn is your biggest problem today: YOU WILL BE OKAY. Be grateful you can afford to live in a town such as morristown. Be grateful you can afford to feed yourself and/or your children. Be grateful you and/or your children do not have cancer. And if you are dealing with one of these terrible problems: THEN YOU SHOULDNT BE WORRIED ABOUT SNOOKIE. Put your life and it's "problems" into perspective.

I am a life-long Morristown resident and love this town. Morristown is filled with incredible history, diverse interests, growing commerce, diverse populations - it is a safe and wonderful place to live. If it's good enough for George Washington, it's good enough for me. It is incredibly disappointing to see how close-minded, negative and disrespectful to Morristown these comments are! Has anyone watched the news lately? There are droughts across the country, a horrific shooting in Colorado, rising crime rates and unemployment all over... there are way worse, way more troubled towns than Morristown. Yes, there are diverse populations - deal with it. Since when is diversity a negative? What is this, 1940? And like every other town in the country, Morristown is not crime-free. But the depiction of rampant murders and free-flowing heroin are just ridiculous. This is not Newark, this is not Elizabeth, this is the center of one of the wealthiest counties in the country. Seriously, if you think this is bad, you haven't been out much... If you're living here, you have it good. And yes, there are bars. But can we take a quick poll of many people have actually had someone passed out on there porch? Had someone puke on their car? No? Ok... to say that the town turns into a puke-covered druken mess on the weekends is just as ridiculous as the comments saying there are rampant shootings and drug cartels. You live in a pretty special place, please respect it.

omg... reading all these comments made me remember what real yuppies are. I spent a few years in the South with the military, and wow. Judgmental, pretentious, sanctimonious, and naive... Snooki and JoWoww walking around Morristown and spending money, and hanging out; with a film crew; these are your real world problems. Oh no, it's going to attract the wrong element, they're going to party, they're famous for being famous. Get over it. To the "concerned parents" your overwhelming concern is what is going to make your children rebel against you and act that way when they grow up. You can't protect children from reality; sorry. When you try to, they resent you for it. You may be doing great in your expensive county, with your money, but there are still people and businesses struggling; and guess what? While you're wrapped up in yourself, they're struggling in your back yard, and exposure even if it is from two young women who are famous for nothing (have some respect for woman, seriously) it's exposure which can bring revenue. While you're being all high and mighty and protecting your children, remember that that these girls are people's daughters when you call them tramps and trashy and that Snooki is about to be someone's mother; would you like someone talking about your mother that way? We all do stupid shit when we're young, not all in front of cameras, but none of us are perfect, and ignorance and judgments make you beneath them.

And how do u know what kind of mother she will be. The fact ur jugding people on there past you don't even know is ridiculous. Did u ever think that because of their appearances in morristow may make it safer? Instead of thinking of the negatives think of some positives for once. It's some good advice. Take it.

Since our public school teachers and the schools they work in are failing to educate our young people (who always arrive on-time, well-rested, studies, fed, and ready to learn), Snooki and her team are doing society a favor. They are showing young people that despite having a low IQ and a dearth of morals, you, too, can become a millionaire and Have It All™.

And the best part is that this feeds on itself! Instead of paying attention in our failing schools, kids think about Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant, Real Housewives, and the like, assured that they will be on one of these shows (if the rap or pro athlete thing doesn't work out) and commit a slow academic suicide. And our inept educators have thusfar failed to successfully compete for the attention of their young minds.

I don't live in Morristown, so I'm on the fence about whether or not they should film there. But, I will say, in my opinion, that the entire Jersey Shore cast are young, immature and talentless morons, who are now rich and famous (or should I say infamous) thanks to the viewers who watch that ridiculous show and keep it on the air. I watched literally 5 minutes of the first show, and was instantly turned off. And I'm not uptight, nor a Mom, nor a kid. Then I had the "luck" of catching Snooki on the Jay Leno show and was floored by how stupid she is...a brick would have a higher IQ. Then I caught about 10 minutes of a much later episode, and still found it to be stupid, boring, irritating...I can't even find enough negative words to describe it. I would be mortified if I was on film smashed, falling off a bike, etc. Yet this chick is now richer than most of us put together. But, again, we get to thank the viewers for this...those who chose The Jersey Shore as one of their guilty pleasures. The residents of Morristown should go out and get fake tans to make them feel welcome! ;-))

Well they live in hoboken now I think, or atleast thats where they lived for the 1st season of their show, I think. My wife watches that crap, Only time I watch it is if my wife is watching it & I have nothing better to do. I don't think they should even have a show period. I think the show is the biggest waste of brain cells. The only reason i'm even commenting here is that I live in Morristown, & I love going against what most other people like. If everyone else was going for red, I would be going for blue, lol.

So basically what you're saying is that even if you have an original opinion of your own, you won't share it if it is within the grain of others to create conflict? You can do or say whatever you choose but people on here are actually interested in our local politics, current events, etc. I have no desire to banter with people who participate in order to get their rocks off. And how you feel my name should be spelled is irrelevant. It is spelled Stacie. And the lol thing...so not funny. Quite immature, actually.
