Morristown Grasshoppers and the NJ Mets played a tight game, but the Grasshoppers ended up on top with a 7-2 win.

Vinnie Malba put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Grasshoppers. He doubled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Jimmy Clayton kept the Mets off balance while he was on the rubber. The NJ Mets managed just two hits off of the Grasshoppers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Jeremy Cook got the win for Morristown Grasshoppers. He allowed one run over two innings. The Morristown Grasshoppers pitcher walked four but surrendered no hits.

In the top of the first, the NJ Mets grabbed the early lead, 1-0.  A single started the rally for the NJ Mets, an error then moved him from first to second, and another single brought him around for the lead.

It didn't take long for Morristown Grasshoppers to respond as they scored two runs of its own in the first. The Hoppers scored on a groundout by Erik Boykin and a groundout by Cook.

The game's last lead went to Grasshoppers thanks to a seventh inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on three singles.
