Sharknado Strikes Morristown and Morris Township Library

Screening of Sharknado on Thursday will show as part of the Midnight Movies at 7 series.

The Midnight Movies at 7 series, showing cult and B-movies traditionally shown at Midnight Movie houses at the Morristown and Morris Township Library, may have met its match.

A screening of Sharknado on Thursday will show as part of the occasional film series.

In what is being dubbed as one of the “best worst movies of all time,” Sharknado—a made-for-TV-movie airing first on the Syfy Network—caused a firestorm of publicity this summer when multiple celebrities, and then thousands of their fans, tweeted about the movie, including Glee star Cory Monteith, right before his death in July.

The hype surrounding the movie was enough to garner dramatic readings by staff on the TODAY Show and even comedic comments from the Mayor of Los Angeles.  The plot centers around a massive hurricane hitting the city of Los Angeles engulfing sharks from the ocean into waterspouts that flood the streets with shark-infested waters and also rain down on the city.

Light refreshments will be served. This program was made possible thanks to funding from the Friends of the Library.
