FOR THE FIRST TIME MORRIS HABITAT BURNS MORTGAGES

PHOTO CAPTION:

Randolph, NJ:  It’s a huge milestone for Morris Habitat for Humanity, holding a special event that included the first burning of the mortgages for the four (4) families who have paid off their mortgages in full after much hard work.   These happy families are Willie and Octavia Chavis, Jose and Francileny Rivera, Angel and Thelma Rosa, and Jaime and Luz Mary Bedoya, all of Morristown.  They were the first Morris Habitat homeowners who had 20 year mortgages and all now own their homes outright!

Shown above are two of the homeowner families who were able to attend the event. (left to right)The Rivera family, Carolyn Haraksin who is Morris Habitat’s Director of Homeowner Relations, and the Chavez Family who were excited to see their mortgages go up in flames. Octavia Chavez spoke to the gathering, “Thank you everyone.  We raised our three boys in this home.  Now we have 7 grandchildren and the oldest one is in college. God bless Habitat”.  Now that Octavia is retired she wants to start to volunteer for Morris Habitat herself.  For further information about Morris Habitat visit: www.MorrisHabitat.org or call the office at 973-891-1934.
