JCP&L, FirstEnergy Foundation Partner with Employment Horizons for Picnic

For over fifteen years, the FirstEnergy Foundation and Jersey Central Power & Light have partnered with local nonprofit Employment Horizons, Inc. to support the agency’s mission to provide job training and placement opportunities to individuals with disabilities in the Morris County area.

JCP&L employees and their families volunteer each year at the agency’s annual summer picnic by organizing games, cooking and serving food, and celebrating summer with the over 100 program participants with disabilities who work on-site at the Cedar Knolls facility. The picnic provides a much-deserved summer celebration for individuals with disabilities in the Morris County area. When asked what they enjoyed most about the day, program participants responded that they enjoyed seeing the JCP&L volunteers – their friends.

On behalf of the program participants, the JCP&L volunteers were presented with a thank you card for their many years of friendship and support.  “Thank you” was uniquely expressed in many different languages, but the appreciation and gratitude was universal.   JCP&L employees also volunteer with the organization’s management team throughout the year. In addition to this much-valued volunteer involvement, the FirstEnergy Foundation has participated in many of the agency’s initiatives to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in the local community.
