Learn to Eat Like a Caveman at Morristown-Morris Township Library

No dairy, no legumes part of Paleo diet being discussed Jan. 16.

While it might not be tantamount to foraging for berries while hiding from sabertooth tigers, the Morristown-Morris Township Library is offering s program that can get you in touch with your inner caveman.

Or at the very least, get you to eat like one.

Dr. Nancy Smith of Smith Family Chiropractic in Morristown will be discussing the Paleo Diet and its benefits at the library on Jan. 16 at 1 p.m.

The free program begins at 1:00 p.m. and features Dr. Nancy Smith of Smith Chiropractic in Morristown.

According to Smith, the Paleo lifestyle is based on biological, physiological, and anthropological science.  It focuses on the way the human body is genetically designed to eat: clean protein, vegetables, fruit, nuts, berries, and seeds.   It avoids foods the body is not designed to eat gluten, dairy, grains, and processed foods.  It’s about fresh, real, natural, quality food that you can hunt and gather on your own.

Why try the Paleo Diet?  The Center for Disease Control reports that one in every two Americans is chronically ill.  90% of chronic disease is lifestyle related.  That means that 90% of chronic disease such has heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune problems, and cancer can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices.  Shifting away from foods at odds with the human body (dairy, grains, gluten, processed foods) reduces inflammation and increases the intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.  You are literally what you eat.

Refreshments will be served. This program is supported through funding from the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library.
