Memorial Day Parade To Hit Morris Plains

The Morris Plains 28th Annual Memorial Day Parade will take place following a 9 a.m. service at Robert's Garden.

Old Glory and people clad military regalia will soon travel down the streets of Morris to honor veterans and the fallen.

Morris Plains will host its 28th Annual Memorial Day Parade next Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. following a service at 9 a.m. at Robert’s Garden at the corner of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way.

The parade will travel along Mountain Way, east on Rosedale Ave, then north along Speedwell Avenue, past the reviewing stand at the corner of Franklin Place, opposite the railroad station, and continue north up Littleton Road to Route 53 north where it will end at the VFW Watnong Post 3401.

The parade is the largest in Morris County, consisting of 100 units and 15 bands.

This year's Grand Marshals will include the Morris Plains Beautification Committee and Morris Plains Firefighter Don Geary for his contributions to the community following Hurricane Sandy.

For car fans, Tom Brown and his famed Banana Car that was featured on "Good Morning America" will be in attendance.

Interested persons may call Parade Chairman Steve Welsh at 973-644-2746.
