Residents who have been to the park for a pickup game of basketball or for the recent kick off to the fall soccer season may have seen the new turf field. That field, and the basketball courts around it are now surrounded by a new set of lights which are now in operation.
“The lights at Simon Park look absolutely wonderful,” Morris Plains Mayor Frank Druetzler said. “And they really were very much needed.”
Druetzler told residents during his opening day remarks for the fall soccer season that he hoped they all had a chance to use the new additions to the park.
“I hope you all get a chance to play on the new field if you haven’t already,” Druetzler said. “And get a chance to take advantage of the new lights.”
Druetzler said nearby fields were considering upgrades of their own which Morris Plains residents would also have access to in the coming years.
