Nunn was praised for his efforts with the department by Chief Scott Lovenberg, who said Nunn had been fearless serving the community since 1995 and that highlights of his career included a stint working at ground zero after the terror attacks of 9/11.
Committeeman Bruce Sisler said the promotion decision was a difficult one because there were so many excellent candidates.
“Michael is a fantastic fireman and a fantastic person,” Sisler said.
For his part, committeeman Daniel Caffrey said what helped set Nunn apart was his skills as a trainer.
“I’ve known Michael for years and I’ve been on a number of fire scenes with him,” Caffrey said. “He is excellent with training and his skills will be used in that role.”
