Five Reasons To Love the New Bickford Season

Theatre has announced its lineup for 2011-2012.

Eric Hafen, Artistic Director of the Bickford Theatre, has announced the 2011-2012 season, his tenth with the organization. Here are five reasons to line up some tickets:

  1. You Need to Know About the Comedy: Called a "retirement story with a twist," The Last Days of Mickey & Jean features two aging lovebirds, a Boston Mobster and his girlfriend. This will be the premier of the comedy, written by Richard Dresser (Rounding Third). runs at the Bickford Theatre September 22 through October 9, 2011.
  2. You Need to Know About the Other Comedy: Next up on the calendar is the comedy hit, Over the River and Through the Woods, running November 17 through December 4, 2011. This family comedy was written by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change) and is "filled with love, laughter & lasagna!" The main character is Nick, whose Italian-American grandparents in Hoboken can't bear to see him leave for a new job in Seattle.
  3. You Need to Know About the Other Thriller: The Bickford promises that "chills will run up and down your spine"when you see Veronica’s Room, a "spell-binding psychological thriller by Ira Levin (Deathtrap, Dr. Cook’s Garden). Running January 26 through February 12, 2012, the play features a young woman who is convinced to impersonate the long-dead daughter of the mansion-dwelling Brabissant family.The Washington Post called it "Suspenseful, compelling, spooky, and really good."
  4. You Need to Know About the Musical: From April 12 through May 13, 2012, The Bickford presents I Do! I Do!, the Tony-winning Broadway hit by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. It follows the 50 year marriage of Michael and Agnes Snow.
  5. You Need to Know About the "A La Carte" menu: Bickford Theatre subscribers get to choose one of these performances along with their four-play subscriptions. On March 4, Vladimir Zaitsev in Bach to Beatles.  On March 11, Avi Hoffman in Still Jewish After All These Years, or on March 18, Italian Giants and American Icons, presented by the Bravo Alliance for the performing Arts.
