This Weekend: Hating Hamlet, Loving Dinosaurs, Celebrating Earth Day

The weekend will soon be here, and you need to find some fun things to do. But who has time to actually figure that out? We do, and we've done all the legwork for you! All you have to do is go out and enjoy yourself, with and without your kids. Have fun!

Why Go: Because this Tony Award-nominated comedy tells the story of an actor who seemingly has it all, but when his hit television series is cancelled and he finds himself playing Hamlet, a role he hates, his situation takes a turn for the worse.
Pricing: $40 for adults; $36 for senior citizens; $33 for museum members; $20 for students.

Why Go: This beefsteak dinner with wine, beer, soft drinks and videocast horse racing will raise funds to support the Morris Plains Rotary’s charities.

The Friends of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s 16thAnnual Plant Sale 
Where/When: 
Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, 353 E. Hanover Ave. in Morris Township.
Why go: Largest plant sale in the area with a huge selection that you can view ahead of time here. Also, plant experts on hand for free advice.
Pricing: Free admission. 


Where/When: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the  on Saturday, April 30.
Why Go: Because children can create a dinosaur puppet, learn from a paleontologist, make a fossil footprint rubbing, or explore a dinosaur nest.
Pricing: Free with museum admission.

Where/When: At  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.
Why Go: Because all ages can enjoy live animal shows, food, live music, nature walks, games and crafts while learning about the environment and celebrating Earth Day.
Pricing: $5 per person or $10 per car.


Where/When: From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the  on Saturday, April 30.
Why Go: Children five or older can learn about dinosaur names by playing the name game, as a part of the museum’s Dino Day.
Pricing: $3 per child.


Where/When: 2 p.m. at the  in Whippany on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: Because “Rabbit Hole,” an Oscar nominated film, will be shown. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: 7:30 p.m. at the  on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: Because you want to hear CCM’s chamber choir sing musical theater favorites, accompanied by the department’s faculty and presented by the music and dance and performing arts departments.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Beginning at 8 p.m. at the  in Morristown on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: Because you’re a fan of “Clerks,” “Dogma,” “Mallrats” or any of Smith’s films, and you want to participate in a Q&A session with the director.
Pricing: Ranges from $42 to $89 and tickets are available online.


Where/When: Beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the .
Why Go: Because you want to see Hillman perform such hits as “Turn Turn Turn,” “Mister Tambourine Man,” or “Eight Miles High.” Barnaby Bright will open.

Why Go: Because this March of Dimes-sponsored event will help fund research and create support programs for soon-to-be mothers.

Why Go: 
To hug a tree and learn how they benefit you and wildlife.

Where/When: Fosterfields Living Historical Farm,  Saturday, April 30 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: See barn swallows and learn about these seasonal birds at the farm.
Pricing: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+), $4 for children ages 4 to 16, and $2 for children ages 2 and 3. Free for children under age 2.

Book-signing: "The Six" with local writer Frank Alessandra
Where/When: Sunday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m. at the place where the six life-long friends in the book hold their get-togethers.
Why Go: Because Alessandra, "introduces the reader to his unforgettable group of buddies from Morris Knolls High School in the 1980s." They are still friends 30 years later.
