'True Gemini' Danielle Becht Different Person On Stage

Normandy Park School third-grader to perform Feb. 29 at Morristown's Got Talent.

It may be a little surprising–shocking, even–when happy, but quiet 8-year-old Danielle Becht gets on stage, and transforms.

"I like to call her a true Gemini," said mother Kristin. "Put her on stage, and she is a different person."

Danielle will put that transformation on display when she sings "Born to Entertain," from the musical Ruthless, Feb. 29 at

This is the second time Danielle, a Morris Township resident and third-grader at Normandy Park School, has tried out for the annual event, held at the . She is, however, no stranger to The Community Theatre, learning with Darius Browner at its Performing Arts School.

Nor is she a stranger to other performances. She'll soon be playing the title role in the stage version of "Little Nemo," and has performed in productions at the Brundage Park Playhouse, in Randolph. She also participates in community service, including making Valentines Day cards for veterans through the Kids Care program. And, she's learning how to knit. The big plan is to make clothing for the needy.

"Grandma's going to make hats, I'm going to make scarves," she said.

Besides Danielle, Kristin and husband Casey have two other children, Bobby, 7, and Thomas, 3. When asked if she would consider next year's Morristown's Got Talent a family affair and get her brothers up on stage with her, Danielle did not seem opposed.

Of course, younger brother Bobby scrunched his nose and said "no" before running off.

Either way, for Danielle Becht, being on stage and performing is where the usually mum child blossoms. "People wouldn't expect it, which makes it all the more shocking," Kristin said.

"I'm having a good time," Danielle said.

The fifth-annual Morristown's Got Talent will be held Feb. 29 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. For more information, check out our MGT 2012 guide.
