On the Run For Charity in Morris Plains

Habitat for Humanity Event Builds Homes and Hope

People were running through the streets of Morris Plains Thursday evening, participating in the 4th Annual Share the Care 5K Fun Run.

RPI Design-Build LLC, a Morris Plains based company, along with the borough of Morris Plains, put together this charity event for the Morris Habitat for Humanity.

Sponsors and vendors for this event were Lakeland Bank, Chilton Hospital, Recreational Equipment Inc., Trinity Lutheran Church of Morris Plains, Morris Spine and Sport, Atlantic Health System and Standard Tile East Hanover Corp.

Local radio station WDHA 105.5 FM kept the crowd rocking with music. The Morris Plains Police Department kept the streets safe for the runners and the Morris Minute Men First Aid Squad was on hand in case of an emergency.

Food and beverages were available coutesy of Trinity Lutheran Church. Morris Plains Mayor Frank J. Druetzler attended and helped hand out awards, prizes and medals.

First place overall winner was Pat McGoldrick of Morris Plains with a time of 17:45.79. First place in the womens category went to  Jenifer Martin of Brookside, New Jersey. Martin's time was 19:21.74. The 5K was followed by a series of fun runs for children 2-14.
