'Over the River' Starts at Bickford This Month

According to the Bickford, Over the River and Through the Woods tells the story of Nick, a 20—something New York City bachelor who spends every Sunday across the river in Hoboken with his Italian-American grandparents. But that's all about to change now that he's been offered his dream job—in Seattle.

His grandparents are not ready to let him go, and they embark on a scheme to keep Nick around, using their lovely neighbor Caitlin as bait.

Over the River and Through the Woods ran Off-Broadway from 1998 to 2000 at the John Houseman Theatre for 800 performances and has been produced all over the world.

The play will be performed with the original music from the Off-Broadway run. The composer is Jimmy Roberts, who also collaborated with writer Joe DiPietro on I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change.

Performances are Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Nov. 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., Nov. 20 at 2 p.m., Nov. 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., Nov. 27 at 2 p.m., Dec. 1 at 2: p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Thursday Night Chat), Dec. 2 and 3 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

Reserved seats are $40 for the general public, $36 for senior citizens, $33 for Morris Museum and Bickford Theatre Guild members, and $20 for students (18 or under or with valid college ID).
