This Weekend: Third Annual TLC Arts Festival

Trinity Lutheran Church will have a busy weekend with its Third Annual Arts Festival.

’s will feature at least 15 artists, a performance by The Morris Choral Society, an art auction and raffle, and a gallery that can be viewed  beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday.

“This event was started so we could get to know our neighbors and let them get to know us,” said Donna Schroeder, who works at the church. “It’s great because it involves the community, the artists are great and everyone has a good time.”

The Morris Choral Society will perform at 4 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, free for children younger than 12. The church expects 200 people to attend the art festival and auction on Sunday.

“It’s great for families, the art work is wonderful, and it’s an all around fun weekend,” said Schroeder.

On Saturday, the church will host a that will be auctioned on Sunday, along with a spaghetti dinner and a showing of the children’s movie, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” The dinner and preview will run from 5 to 7 p.m., the movie begins at 5:45 p.m. Admission is $15 per person and children 12 or younger are free.

Mad Agnes at The Minstrel
Where/When: The at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 as part of The Folk Project’s The Minstrel Concert Series.
Why Go: Their front woman Margo Hennebach has performed at The Minstrel since the early 1980s -- they must have had a reason to bring her back for all those decades, right? Opener Ron Renninger will also perform from a variety of genres.

Opole, Philharmonic of Poland
Where/When: The Community Theatre in Morristown at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. A lecture begins at 7 p.m.
Why Go: How often do you get to see one of Poland’s best orchestras?

Where/When: At the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19.
Why Go: Because, according to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
Pricing: No fee


Where/When: From 1 to 5 p.m. at in Morristown on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Why Go: Because you’re a girl and you want to spend the afternoon out -- drink specials, games, give-aways, and door prizes don’t hurt either.
Pricing: No cover

Where/When: From 3 to 5 p.m. at the on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Why Go: The NAACP will show an award-winning documentary, “Chancemans Brothers and Sisters: The Origins of the 20th Century Morris County Black Community.” These are valuable living oral histories of Morris County residents, telling stories of discrimination in the 20th century.
Pricing: Free and open to everyone.


Where/When: 3 p.m. at the Community Theatre in Morristown on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Why Go: Because you're into folk music and you want to see comical folk musician Carla Ulbrich, the Hickory Tree Chorus, the Dirdy Birdies Jug Band, or Roger Deitz.
