What Should Replace Morris County Car Wash?

Owners consider selling Ridgedale Avenue site, another car wash/detail shop may open.

The Morris County Car Wash that closed in February remains vacant as potential businesses are looking to buy the property.

According to Javier Ciadio, the logisitics manager at Thrift Auto Sales located next door to the former car wash on Ridgedale Avenue, Evergreen Cemetery Association has been looking to sell the property.

Evergreen owns the lot where the car wash used to be on 160 Ridgedale Ave., as well as Thrift Auto Sales. Ciadio said the company is currently negotiating with his boss at the car shop, and is considering opening it up as a car wash or detail shop.

Ciadio said outside buyers and other people have also been interested and have been coming in to survey the property.

A representative from the board at Evergreen could not be reached for comment on Monday, but an employee with the company confirmed that the location has not been rented or sold yet.

Currently, the lot is being used by Thrift Auto Sales as an auto detail shop after getting permission from Evergreen to use the space temporarily. Workers clean the cars that are sold at Thrift Auto Sales, and use the inside of the old car wash for storage.

According to Ciadio, the Morris County Car Wash was owned by an elderly couple for about 30 years, and they were unable to keep up with it and decided to close earlier this year.
