People visiting the Powder Mill Plaza on Mondays and Tuesdays for over the past year have seen come to see a familiar sight, prospective patrons standing bewildered outside of the Furnishing Solutions store, which is not open on those days.
Furnishing Solutions, the 17,300-square-foot retail arm of Morristown and Morris Township-based Homeless Solutions, just didn't have the system in place to open for more days, until now.
Starting this Tuesday, Furnishing Solutions will now be open Tuesday through Sunday and will mark the occasion with a sale this week. From now on hours are:
- Tuesdays now from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
"The FS concept is a win-win for the community and for HSI," said Susan Robinson, communications manager for Homeless Solutions. "Local residents who have furnishings they no longer need can donate them, while others looking to purchase can find quality items at bargain prices. All proceeds from the store support HSI’s other programs and services, and re-purposing these items helps to reduce the expansion of New Jersey's landfills."
As for opening on Mondays, the store's co-manager Donna Miller said that would be possible once the staffing is in place.
"Once I am sure we can open without me being here seven days a week," Miller said. "That might happen."
