Letter to the Editor: Park-Like Atmosphere of the Area Could be Lost

Reader comments on Honeywell redevelopment plan.

Re: Honeywell Plan.

Ms. Shaskan,

One of the reasons my wife and I moved to Morristown in 2005 was the wonderful ambience of the area. Although much of NJ can be considered congested, those of us who love it here consider that a relative term. The town we lived in previously for over 30 years allowed rampant development to the point that almost any open piece of ground was considered fair game. The park-like atmosphere of this area would be severely compromised by over development. In fact, I consider the word “development” as a near curse word because of the disregard ‘developers’ have for the sanctity and quality of life an open, relaxed neighborhood provides for all who live there. Let’s keep Morristown serene and let dense population go somewhere else, maybe by the ‘redevelopment’ of some of NJ’s cities that could use relief from urban blight.
