Lucky Streak Strikes Morris Plains

Two people hit the lottery in the same day.

Lottery lightning struck twice, it seems, in Morris Plains as a pair of winning Mega Millions tickets were sold at convenience stores in the borough.

The two local tickets were worth $10,000 each.

According to Carole Hedinger, NJ Lottery Executive Director, the Mega Millions game produced one more New Jersey millionaire when a lucky player purchased a second prize winning ticket with the Megaplier feature for the Sept. 27 drawing.

Adding the Megaplier feature made that second prize worth $1,000,000. Another player who did not add the Megaplier option won a second prize worth $250,000. In addition, seven lucky players each won a $10,000 third prize in the Friday drawing.

The lucky $1,000,000 winning ticket was sold in Atlantic County at McKee City Lukoil, 6101 Black Horse Pike, McKee City. The $250,000 winning ticket was bought in Ocean County at the 7-11 at  524 Lacey Rd., Forked River.

Two of the $10,000 winning tickets were purchased in Morris Plains. One at Quick Shop, 736 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains, and another at Powder Mart, 40 Gibraltar Dr., Morris Plains (pictured in this post).

Two more of those $10,000 tickets were bought in Union County: one at Quick Food Store, 1472 E. Front St., Plainfield, and the other at Union City Liquor Store, 4122 Bergenline Ave., Union City.

The additional three $10,000 winning tickets were sold at the following locations: in Bergen County at the Coffee Stop, 252 Park Ave., East Rutherford; in Mercer County at Pantry Farm, 49 W. Upper Ferry Rd., Ewing; and in Passaic County at RJ Grocery, 919 Main St., Paterson.

“Congratulations to the lottery winners and to the retailers that sold the winning tickets,” said Hedinger. “For selling the winning tickets, the retailers have become nine more Lottery ‘lucky locations’ overnight.”
