Morris Twp. OEM Sets Valentine's Day Roses Sale

New vendors and new options highlight the annual Office of Emergency Management fundraiser at the Hillside Fire House.

You need flowers for Valentine's Day.

And Patricia Simms of the Morris Township Office of Emergency Management wants you to buy them from her at the Hillside Firehouse.

Simms stopped by Wednesday's township committee meeting to let folks know that not only the dates were set, but there were some new developments with the sale.

"This year we have a new supplier and new colors" Simms said. "We actually were able to stay with a local vendor and keep the costs around the same."

Prices are $25 for a dozen of long-stem fresh red roses or two dozen any other color for $30. The three-day sale starts Feb. 12 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., continues Feb. 13 from 12 p.m. a.m. to 7 p.m. and Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The firehouse is located at 132 Western Avenue.

Simms said that the fundraiser supports the office of emergency management and that means less money expended by the governing body.

"All proceeds benefit the OEM which means it all goes back to the Morris Township residents," Committeeman Jeff Grayzel said. "So buy your roses at the firehouse."

Deputy mayor Dan Caffrey said everyone should take advantage of the sale.

"Those roses are the best deal going," Caffrey said.
