Morristown Movies Begin Renovations

Concession stands first to be addressed in 2014.

The scratches on the screens and the pops in the sound are still there for now, but the concession stands at the newly re-opened Morristown AMC Theatres at Headquarters Plaza are the first things being addressed in the planned overhaul of the movie house.

The first phase has begun, with the soda fountain and icee machines removed in favor of bottled soft drinks in coolers. But while the experience isn't perfect, the popcorn is still hot and the patrons are still showing up to take in a flick.

Renovations planned for the 10-screen theater include plush power recliners, a revamped concession area that includes hot foods such as mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, French fries and pizza, Coca-Cola Freestyle machines and state-of-the-art presentation equipment, such as new movie screens, new speakers and 100 percent digital projectors. The improvements will be completed in phases, allowing the theater to remain open during the work.
