Mother's Day Dining Ideas

From brunch to dinner, choices abound.

Mother's Day is coming up and you need someplace to treat your mom to dinner. Here are five ideas close to home:

  1. Mother's Day Grand Buffet in the Conservatory: The beautiful greenhouse-style conservatory at the  along with the Grand Ballroom, will be the site of a "Grand Buffet." According to the menu, the food choices will be vast:  seafood appetizers, vegetable and fruit salads, cheeses, carving stations, omelet station, Belgian waffles, cheese blintzes and a Viennese table loaded with desserts. The buffet, from 10am until 5:pm  is $52.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Children ages 5-10 can dine for $19.95.
  2. Three-Course Mother's Day Dinner at Rod's: If the Grand Buffet at the Madison Hotel doesn't tickle your fancy, walk to the other side of the building and enjoy a three-course meal at Rod’s Steak & Seafood Grille. The special menu, served by reservation from noon to 7:30 p.m., includes salads, seafood appetizers, entrees such as Stuffed Maine Lobster Tails, Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass, Rack of Colorado Spring Lamb and Roast Blue Ribbon Prime Rib of Beef. Desserts include parfait, fruit tart and cheesecake. On the kids' menu: petit prime rib, imported penne pasta with shrimp or oven roasted free range chicken, with ice cream for dessert. The cost of dinners for adults range from $39.95 to $57.95.. For children the cost is $19.95. 
  3. Mother's Day Breakfast Buffet at Copeland: Early birds can try the breakfast buffet at Copeland for $19 per person from 6:30–11:00a.m.  Please call 973-451-2619 to make reservations.  
  4. Three-course Mother's Day Meal at Copeland:  From 1–9:00 p.m., Chef Robert Trainor of Copeland will have a three-course menu on offer for $56 per adult and $28 per child under 12 years old. Featured dishes include Chili Cinnamon Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, Rack of Spring Lamb, Filet Mignon and Short Rib of Beef. Please call 973-451-2619 to make reservations.  
  5. Mother's Day at Hibiscus: Hibiscus in Morristown will serve a brunch buffet with unique Caribbean dishes and live jazz. Enjoy a jerk chicken omelet, Jamaican Stewed Chicken, Jamaican Run Down with Clams, Shrimp, Sea Bass, Conch, Scallops & Calamari, Hibiscus Oxtail, Jamaican Rum Flavored Bread Pudding, and more. The meal is $38.95 for adults, $16.95 for kids plus tax and gratuity.
