St. Paddy's to Bring Out the Green at Arthur's Tavern

Morris Plains bar presents its annual St. Patrick's Day revelry.

St. Patrick's Day will be here next week, and Arthur’s Tavern in Morris Plains is all ready for the wearing of the green.

The bar will offer holiday festivities coinciding with Morristown's March 9 St. Patrick's parade and during the Irish-themed weekend, March 16 and 17.

“It is always great to have so many people coming to Arthur’s through the years as well as all the new faces that we see at our St. Patrick’s Day party," said owner Alyce McGreevy. "Arthur’s Tavern in Morris Plains is truly the place to be on Saint Patrick’s Day.”

The festivities, the bar promises, should be fun for all involved. Among the highlights:

  • The Arthur’s Tavern building will be decked out in Irish colors and thousands of balloons. On Saint Patrick’s Day, the traditional red-checkered tablecloths will be replaced with festive Kelly green linens.
  • Along with the regular menu, feast on classic St. Paddy's favorites including corned beef and cabbage, soda bread and Irish stew, and sip holiday faves like Bailey’s Irish Cream, Guinness Stout (no green beer here) or Arthur’s famous Irish Coffee with green sprinkles.
  • ·Kevin McCardle's Irish Band performs Sunday March 17 from 6 p.m. until closing; be sure to arrive early because it's standing room only after 3 p.m. Between sets, enjoy the traditionally Celtic sounds of local bagpipers.
  • “I survived Saint Patrick’s Day at Arthur’s Tavern” T-shirts.

Arthur's is at 700 Speedwell Ave. across the street from the NJ Transit railroad station. For more information, call 973-455-9705.
