The Burch Drive neighborhood was shut down on July 8, after a resident threatened to harm himself in his own home. Police evacuated 20 people out of their homes to the nearby school and chuch for safety.

The prosecutor's office announced that the man who barricaded and threatened to harm himself in his Burch Drive home on July 8 was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The statement also said that the residents who were evacuated on July 8 returned to their homes at approximately 4 a.m. the next morning.

An 18-year-old Randolph resident was fatally struck by a furniture store box truck on Route 10 on July 7. The victim, Brian Smith, was walking on the highway at the time of the incident.

It was announced on July 24 that Jersey Shore stars Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "JWoww" Farley will film the next season of their spinoff show Snooki & JWoww in Morristown starting on Aug. 9.

The prosecutor's office identified the man who barricaded himself in his Burch Drive home on July 8 as 28-year-old Stephen Grant. Grant was charged with fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Several residents on Burch Drive reacted the next morning after a resident on the street shut down the neighborhood after threatening to harm himself in his own home. One woman who was dog-sitting next door said she was traumatized from the experience, and was told by police to crawl on the grass to evacuate safely.

Morris Plains resident Darryll Vanwinkle was arrested at Jones Beach Theater on July 3 during a Phish concert for having 28 grams of shrooms. Vanwinkle, 23, was found with the drugs in his vehicle.

A Randolph resident overturned his jeep on West Hanover Avenue on July 20 after driving over twice the legal limit. Vikash Amin, 25, registered a .18 percent blood-alcohol level and was charged with DWI, reckless driving, a cell phone violation and failure to keep right.

Several residents living on West Hanover Avenue were concerned about the extension of the East Hanover Avenue Traffic study requested by the township committee, which could mean their two lane part of the street could be reconstructed to four.

The popular supermarket chain Wegmans is coming to Hanover Township on Sylvan Way and Ridgedale Avenue.
