Deputy Mayor: Get Help, Stay Safe in Storm

Morris Township Deputy Mayor Bruce Sisler released the following statement Saturday, as a heavy snows hit our area two days ahead of Halloween:

This has been a significant snow storm that has caused widespread power outages, wires down, road closures and downed trees. We are working with JCP&L to get the power restored as quickly and safely as possible. 

If you are without power please call 800-LIGHTSS (with two Ss) and report the outage. This will assist JCP&L in determining the extent of outages and devote the needed resources for the repair and restoration. Although we do not have restoration estimates for individual neighborhoods we do expect the restoration of power to take several days.

If you or a family member has any special needs such as a need for oxygen or health issues that need to be addressed please call the main police, fire and EMS non-emergency phone number 973-539-0777 and we will get assistance to you. In an emergency please call 911.  

Our Department of Public Works is working through the night to get roads cleared and downed trees removed from the roadways. Our Office of Emergency Management, Police Department, Fire Department, Morris Minute Men First Aid Squad along with Township representatives are working diligently to insure your safety and provide assistance.  

We will continue to work with JCP&L to assist in the restoration of power.  As information becomes available it will be provided.
