Douglas Davis of Morris Township related his own tales of the South Pacific to the Air Force Association Chapter 195 on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Davis was a C-46 crew and line chief with the 5th Air Force, 378th Troop Carrier, 55th Support Group that provided fuel and bombs for B-52s in the Southwest Pacific during the war. The 55th Support Group was chosen by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to be part of his occupation force in Japan after the war.
The Shooting Star Chapter, 195, meets at Charlie Brown’s, 522 Southern Blvd., Chatham Township, usually on the last Saturday of each month except July, August, November and December.
