What to do at the beach this weekend

A short work week is winding down, and the Shore awaits. From its beaches to nightlife to festivals, there's something for everyone!

The Celtic clans of Ocean County will gather for a day of old-world mirth at the annual Toms River Celtic Festival, planned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at , 415 Washington St., Toms River. Attendees need not wear kilts or play the bagpipes to enjoy the day of vendors, food, crafts and music. Tickets at the gate are $10, $7 for seniors, children younger than 12 free. Call 732-349-5506 for more information.

Cruise on over to Monmouth Park for thes through the 1950s. Grandstand admission is $3, which includes access to the show, scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. at the park, 175 Oceanport Ave., Oceanport. NJ 101.5's Big Joe Henry will broadcast live from the show.

The continues with two performances this weekend. Wilbur Wittmann performs Saturday, and the Tone Rangers take the stage Sunday. Both concerts are free at the Toms River branch of the , 101 Washington St.

It's "Double Trouble" in Seaside Heights Saturday as Jersey Shore Mulitsport holds a triathlonwith athletes of all ages. The race, which consists of two runs, two swims and two bike races, will start at 6:45 a.m. at Hiering Avenue and Ocean Terrace. For more information, call 732-241-4555.

Local artisans will flock to , 4265 Atlantic Ave., Wall, for the annual . Food and drink will be available as more than 75 local crafters sell their wares, with funds benefiting the Historic Village at Allaire. For more information, click here or call 732-919-3500.

Didn't get your fill of ? Head to Belmar at 8:30 p.m. Friday for a display at 6th and Ocean avenues, weather permitting.

NIGHTLIFE

—Barnegat’s newest neighborhood watering hole is a perfect fit in this small, cozy town with its dark wood paneling and Irish-inspired decor. It features bar food, an outdoor patio and plenty of cold beers on tap to close out those summer nights.

Friday: $1 Coors Light drafts. Happy hour from 4 to 7p .m. which includes $2 domestic drafts, $4 specialty pints, $2.75 well drinks, $3.25 glasses of wine and food specials.

Saturday: Dan Brown Duo performs live at 10 p.m; $1 Coors Light drafts and happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m.

—Caffrey’s slogan is “no strangers here, just friends you haven’t met yet.” This friendly bar and restaurant has nightly specials and live entertainment.

Friday: Live entertainment with popular cover band Big Baby Ernie. Happy hour from noon to 6 p.m. with appetizer specials from 4 to 6 p.m. and 25-cent wings.

Saturday: Live entertainment with Matt Noffsinger. 

Sawmill, 1807 Boardwalk, Seaside Park—As a boardwalk bar, Sawmill attracts crowds of tourists and locals alike. A great spot to stop in for a beer after a hot day.

Friday: Ladies night with music by DJ Chrystian Tyler. Ladies get in free until 9 p.m. with half-priced drinks.

Saturday: Music by DJ Matrix.

Sunday: Reggae and calypso sounds of Soular Rhythm from 2 to 6 p.m. with $2 Red Stripe bottles. DJ Doctor Feelgood from 9 p.m. to closing.

Friday: Tiki Tea Fridays starts at noon with DJ Tempo. Mike Dalton Trio will be performing at 2 p.m. Joe Batchman & The Crew will be performing at 9 p.m.

Saturday: Dr. Cheeko at 1 p.m. New Powder Soul at 9 p.m.

Sunday: Dr. Cheeko at 12:30 p.m. Generation Next at 8 p.m.

A large Irish pub and restaurant, Connolly Station has everything from late-night dancing to TVs for the big game.

Saturday: Toxic Twins at 4 p.m. Sideways at 10 p.m. in the main bar and DJ A.K. in the Dublin Bar.

Sunday: The Bobby Byrne Show at 4 p.m. DJ Rob and Sunday Funday Mug Club at 9 p.m. with $2 Miller Lite and Coors Light mugs.

Tuckerton Beach Grille, 1000 S. Greene St., Tuckerton- A casual and laid-back destination, this restaurant has two bars, a banquet room and an outdoor deck. It's got everything from homemade desserts to comedy shows.

Friday: Dance party from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the Bayview Room. DJ Nick Peters spins music from the '50s to today’s hits. No cover and free appetizers.

Saturday: Pete Grigis on the baby grand piano in the dining room at 5 p.m. and music by Jason Booth.

Sunday: Half-priced appetizers at the sports bar and half-priced entrees with the purchase of one entree.
