Family, Friends Remember Dziedzic (Video)

Family and friends of gathered at   in Madison Monday to remember the Morris Township resident and deputy director of the .

Dziedzic, 59, died on Monday, April 23 while returning home from a cross-country motorcycle trip. According to his brother-in-law, David Price, this was Dziedzic's 11th trip.

At the funeral service Monday morning, Price eulogized Dziedzic as "a man you could trust, a man you could rely on, a man of pride ... [and] one of the most unselfish people you've ever met."

The Rev. J. Antonio Gaviria's homily described the love that filled Dziedzic's life: his marriage of over 37 years with his wife Linda; his two daughteres, Shelley and Amy; and his grandson, Domenick Charles Marchetti; and his brother, Tony Dziedzic. 

"He never said 'no' to anyone who needed his help," Gaviria said. "He used his skills in service of others, a sort of rent-a-husband. He was generous with his time and energy, and he, in return, was well loved."

Price described how Dziedzic would take his Harley Davidson out for long rides every Sunday. His love of motorcycles, Price said, was evident from the moment he came to pick Linda up for a date in biker boots and a leather jacket.

"I thought, 'Great, my sister's dating Fonzie from Happy Days,'" Price said.

Following the memorial Mass, attendees were escorted by police down Main Street to Chatham Borough. They drove past the DPW yard, the and the before heading for a reception in East Hanover.

Dziedzic's remains were cremated.
