5 Things From The Morris Twp. Meeting

The township committee paid for emergency services due to the storm

1) Vendors are paid for road work after storm:

The township committee paid PM Construction $103,246.69 for repairs on Lake Valley Road, Ascape Landscaping $1,440 for the same job, Caro Corporation $4,000 for Brigade Hill Road and $2,750 for Route 202 and Sand Spring Road and John Cortese Masons $32,750 for Washington Valley Road and Schoolhouse Lane. All were damaged by Hurricane Irene.

2) Grant will pay for body armor:

Police Commissioner Bruce Sisler annouced Morris Township's share of a $3.6 million grant to replace law enfocement body armor is $4,078. The state raised the money for the grant through a $1 surcharge on traffic tickets and bail forteiture.

3) Veterans Day ceremony:

The annual Veteran's Day service will be held at town hall on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. Participants will then go to the Morristown Green for the 11 a.m. speech and ceremony there.

4) Fees Waived:

The Morris Township Committee voted to wave municipal permit fees for electrical code work done to replace components or repair damage from the Oct. 29 and 30 storm. No local fees will be charged for this work through Dec. 31. State fees cannot be waived.

5) Police vehcile purchased:

The committee authorized the purchase of a four-wheel drive police department vehicle. The contract will be awarded to Classic Chevrolet for a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe for an amount not to exceed $29,027.25
