Five Things You Need to Know About Hospice Care
The proceeds from this year's Mansion in May 2012 are going to the proposed Inpatient Hospice at Morristown Medical Center.

1) The Goal
The goal of the Inpatient Hospice & Palliative Care Center, which will be designed with a residential atmosphere, is to help relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for seriously ill patients.

2) The Director
Karen Knops, MD, director of the Center for Palliative Care, will lead an interdisciplinary team of professionals to work with the patient and family members to determine the best course of treatment.

3) The History
Atlantic has operated hospice for more than 30 years, serving residents of Morris, Union, Essex and Somerset counties.
4) The Staff
Hospice and palliative care certified nurses, social workers, home health aides, spiritual counselors and volunteers.
5) For the Family
Bereavement professionals work with family and friends for a year through support groups and individual counseling.
