Honeywell Project Inches Closer to Public Hearings

Scout Day at Farmers Market also happening this week.

Special Planning Board Meeting for Honeywell

The planning board has set up a special meeting for Monday at 7 p.m. at the for a formal recommendation of the Honeywell zoning ordinance after it was by the township committee. Board members will decide if they find the ordinance consistent with the master plan, and will have the chance to give any further recommendations before the first public hearing date on Aug. 1.

Be a Scout Day at Morris Plains Farmers Market

At this week's Farmers Market on Saturday, there will be several activities held by boy scouts for all to enjoy. Cub Scouts of Morris Plains Pack 233 will be holding a Raingutter Regatta, where they will have a special booth for visitors to make their own boats out of recycled materials and race them. Residents will also be able to learn about boy scouts and sign up for the upcoming year. There will be other fun activites throughout the day with a raffle and camping demonstrations from Boy Scout Troop 39.

Pool and Snack Bar, Buildings and Roadway Ordinances Introduced by Borough Council

At Thursday night's Borough Council meeting, two ordinances were introduced, one for improvements for a pool and snack bar, and another one for improvements for buildings and roadways. We'll go in to more detail this week about what improvements will come from these ordinances.

Renovations to be Done at Mountain Way for Art and Music Classes

At last week's Morris Plains Board of Education meeting, a contract was approved to renovate a storage room at Mountain Way School for art and music classes. The previous room that was used for art and music will now be used for general instruction. The construction will be completed by the time the school year starts.

Morris Plains Resident Brings Sport Specific Gym to Area

Mark Williams of Morris Plains recently opened his own gym in Whippany, Williams Sport Training, where he trains athletes for a number of different sports for help with strength, speed, power, and injury prevention. At his gym, located on 9 Whippany Road, he trains athletes of all levels from high school to professional.
