Kids' Classics: Pippi, Peter (and the Wolf), Dr. Suess and More

Check out our weekly planner of things to do with your kids.

It's wonderful to relive the things you loved as a child–with your own child. Our weekly Grab & Go Kids' Planner gives you plenty of opportunities to walk down memory lane with your little ones, from a special production of Peter and the Wolf to classic cartoons at the Morris Museum.

Dr. Suess Storytime
Where/When: 10 a.m. at the Morris Plains Barnes & Noble on Thursday, March 3.
Why Go: Because parents can reminisce while introducing their children to a classic children’s author.
Pricing: Free


Where/When:  on Friday, March 4 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Because Pushcart Players Acting Company, a professional theater group, will put on this performance of a classic play.
Pricing: $5 for adults, free for senior citizens and children younger than 18.

Classic Cartoons
Where/When: At the  at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5
Why Go: Because families can enjoy cartoons on the big screen. This is the only scheduled showing of classic cartoons at the Morris Museum in March.
Pricing: Free with museum admission


Where/When: At the  in Morristown on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Why Go: Because many children love Pippi Longstocking, and many also love musicals. This has both! For ages 5 or older.

Where/When: From 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 at the 
Why Go: This event was founded 21 years ago and will feature games, crafts, raffle prizes, juggling, magic, and singers, as well as dancers performing styles from around the world. The pot luck could also prove to be interesting, as every family is asked to bring either a dish or dessert from their native or ancestral country.
Pricing: Free

 at Chatham High School
Where/When: Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday March 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. at 
Why Go: “Guys & Dolls” won six Tony Awards on Broadway and there are three chances for families to enjoy the play in Chatham this weekend.
Pricing: $10 for students and $12 for adults at the door.

“Rapunzel - A Brush with Fate!”
Where/When: At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Pax Amicus Castle Theatre in Budd Lake on Saturday, March 5
Why Go: Because the whole family can enjoy this classic with a modern twist. For more information, see the Pax Amicus website.

Animal Story Time
Where/When: From 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the  in Chatham on Sunday, March 6
Why Go: Because children ages 2 through 6 can enjoy outdoor story telling mixed with nature, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Where/When: From 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5 at the
Why Go:  You can drop in to enjoy storytime as well as family time.
Pricing:  Free

Where/When:  Saturday, March 5  from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the 
Why Go: To meet and pet dogs from the Somerset Hills Kennel Club and learn how they can become new members of your family.
Pricing: Free
