Master Plan, Hanover Ave. Discussion This Week

Here's a look at what's happening this week and what you can expect to see on Patch.

Meeting, Meetings and More Meetings

This week is full of meetings in the township and borough, with a Township Planning Board discussing the municipality's master plan Monday night at 7:30 p.m., a Morris Plains Board of Education meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., Township Committee meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Borough Council meeting at 8:30 p.m. Patch will have updates during the week about what was discussed.

Kona Ice Truck Comes to Town

The nationwide frozen ice truck franchise recently hit Morris Township and Morris Plains last month. A Parsippany couple brought the business to Morris County, and have been driving around the neighborhood to give the community frozen treats. Owner Rob Patel said he is looking to work with local organizations, such as little league and other sports teams, for fundraising opportunities.

Campout on the Beach on Friday

Residents can camp out at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris County Park on Friday to enojy a night of outdoor activities with family and friends. The event, Campout on the Beach, will start at 4 p.m. Participants will be able to swim, boat and enjoy picnics. The night activities, including campfires, smores and games, will begin at 7 p.m. Preregistration is required for the event by calling 973-326-7616.

Residents to Ask Township Committee to Keep  W. Hanover Ave. Two Lanes

After by the Township Committee to extend the East Hanover Avenue traffic study, about what will happen to their part of the street. The possibility of making their stretch of the Hanover Avenue from Speedwell Avenue to Burnham and Stiles four lanes has come up before, and they fear it may be still be a possibility. Several of the residents plan on attending Wednesday night's Township Committee meeting to address their concerns to commitee members.

Morris Plains Annual Senior Picnic Thursday

The borough's annual senior picnic will be held in the Multi Purpose Room at the on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. All Morris Plains seniors are invited to attend the event for food, fun and entertainment.
