Resident Honored by Jewish Center

Dr. Gilbert Mayor is the honoree at the first benefit gala of the Mt. Freedom Jewish Center (MFJC), a Modern Orthodox Synagogue on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Mayor, who lives on the border of Morris Township, is being recognized for both his loyal support of the synagogue and his support of the Jewish community in MetroWest, in politics and in Eretz Israil.

He has served as both synagogue president and a member of its board of trustees. The doctors is a member of the prestigious Kenan Society of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, based in Washington, DC.  He  is also a dedicated advocate of Jewish education with his son attending Hebrew Academy of Morris County, and is a  volunteer for the United Jewish Communities of MetroWest (UJC).  He was named Volunteer of the Year at UJC’s Super Sunday event. 

Mayor also serves on the Board of Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake, a Jewish overnight camp with a mission of building lifelong connections to Judaism and Israel.  On the professional front, Dr. Mayor currently partners with his wife Dr. Jacquelin Holubka in a medical practice with a focus on Sub-Acute Rehabilitation.

Festivities for the gala will be in the shul’s social hall beginning. The evening includes cocktails, a sit down dinner, dancing and a silent and live auction with a range of  prizes, services and one of kind items.  Featured auction items include a signed Steven Tyler guitar, a private in-home concert by Jeremy Turner, a cellist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, an authentic gourmet Persian Shabbat Dinner for 10 and much more.  The Jewish Rock Band, Pey Dalid, will be the headline entertainment.  Pey Dalid is known internationally for blending roots, rock and reggae and many other popular genres into a unique mix of lyrics and music.  Their upbeat and funky melodies are performed both in English and Hebrew.
