Morris Plains Boy Wins Big at Pokémon

Jeremy Gibson takes regional championship

Jeremy Gibson, 12, of Morris Plains is a regional champion in the Pokémon Trading Card Game after a weekend of play in Providence, RI, on Nov. 12 and 13.

Jeremy earned not only a medal in the junior division, but also championship points toward an invitation to the  2012 Pokémon World Championships. The championships will be held in Hawaii, on Aug. 10 through 12, 2012. Players will come from more than 25 countries, including Japan, the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

The autumn regional championship tournaments were held in seven cities across the US. This is the first regional championship to include the trading card game and video game elements in the same city.
