Superstorm Sandy Damaged 7 Morris Twp., Morris Plains Homes

The majority of the homes suffered between $8,000 and $29,000 worth of damage.

About seven homes in Morris Township and Morris Plains suffered between $8,000 and more than $29,000 worth of damage caused by Superstorm Sandy last October.

High winds uprooted hundreds of trees, some of which fell on homes and vehicles.

In Morris Plains, one residence suffered major, though not severe, damage. In addition, 385 businesses were damaged in the superstorm.

Morris Township was hit a bit harder: Six homes suffered damage—five major, one severe. One rental unit suffered minor damage. On the business side, 852 in the township were impacted by the October storm.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs released the number of residences and businesses damaged by Sandy throughout the state last week.

NJ Spotlight created an interactive map of the information, broken down by municipality, last week.

Statewide, nearly 87,000 housing units were damaged. About 12,500 of those sustained major damage or were destroyed.

At least 1,000 residences were damaged in 24 municipalities in seven counties. Nearly 400,000 businesses were impacted, as well.
