Assembly Candidate 'Truly Independent'

Editor's note: This is letter to the editor submitted for publication. The views expressed do not reflect those of Patch.

Dear Editor,

Many readers may struggle with the fact that an independent candidate running for a public office can truly be independent. Perhaps it is time for voters to decide what is important for them… alignment with a specific political party or alignment with an elected official who represents your views and with whom you believe will serve our state to the benefit of a majority of its residents.

I am writing this letter to support the change that I believe we need in our state’s

Assembly. I want an elected official that can hear both sides of an argument, but in the end will decide what is in our collective best interest. That official is Rebecca Feldman.

Here are some facts about this candidate

1. Debt reduction of approximately 30% or 23 million dollars in Morristown. As a member of the Morristown Council, she went through the budget “line by line”. Rebecca cut spending; reduced the workforce by 10%, and held union contracts in check.

2. Rebecca fought “Pay for Play” in Morristown advocating to change the local law. Council members can no longer accept more than $300 in campaign contributions from contractors that would like to work in that municipality.

3. She is not afraid to challenge the establishment and advocate for her
constituents. During, and after, our recent large storms, Rebecca went to Trenton, and the County, to express community concerns about the Board of Public Utilities handling of the aftermath of these large storms and the electrical infrastructure repairs needed in Morristown.

Ms. Feldman has not been active in any single political party, and voters from all parties are drawn to her ideas, enthusiasm and energy. This election should not be about empty rhetoric, but focused on change and non-partisan reform to improve the quality of life in our state.

Can we leave political partisanship and focus on substantive issues that are
meaningful to voters? If you want answers to tough questions just ask the
candidates!

Respectfully,
Kim Kramer Ganz
