Independent Assembly Candidate 'Really a Democrat'

Morris Township residents have reservations about Morristown Councilwoman Rebecca Feldman's run for Assembly.

Dear Editor:

Ms. Rebecca Feldman is attempting to sell your readers a "bill of goods."
True, it is close to Halloween. However, Ms. Feldman's masquerade as an “Independent” candidate on the November ballot is not to be believed.  Ms. Feldman is, in fact, a very standard liberal Democrat trying to hide her true colors in the hopes of fooling our neighbors into overlooking her patently liberal Democrat tax and spend policies.

Let's examine her record - Ms. Feldman did not just vote in one Democratic Primary election, but has done so repeatedly. Of her petition signers, more than 100 were Democrats, including Democrat Mayor Tim Doherty of Morristown.  Her signs appear on the lawns of liberal Corzine Democrats, including Committeeman Jeff Grayzel in Morris Township.

Further, simple FEC search reveals that her campaign treasurer is a major Barack Obama donor; indeed, many of her listed contributors are notable for having made large donations to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Jon Corzine, and the list goes on.

When most, if not all, of her supporters and donors are extremely liberal Democrats, what does that say about her? Independent? Moderate? We don't think so.

In addition, Ms. Feldman keeps her positions on state issues carefully hidden? Where does she stand on property tax reform? Pension and health benefit reform? State-wide tax increases? What about potential spending cuts? Does she have a position on Court mandated low income housing?   How about this question - will Ms. Feldman be voting for Chris Christie or Barbara Buono? So many questions. So few answers; except that Ms. Feldman is without a doubt a liberal Democrat posing as an Independent.

Don't be fooled by the political smokescreen. Ms. Feldman is running a stealth campaign, discretely refusing to tell the public where she stands on any issue of consequence. To borrow from Nancy Pelosi regarding the Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamcare) ...you would have to elect her to know where she stands.

Voting for a candidate who won’t tell you where they stand is a recipe for unhappy results. We need to demand that each candidate for public office take a position on the issues that impact us all. Perhaps this note will prompt Ms. Feldman to reveal her platform and tell us where she stands. In the unlikely event that we learn of Ms. Feldman's stance on the issues, we believe the mask will be torn off and her true party affiliation will be undeniable - liberal Democrat. Then, of course, we must ask the question - why run from your own party and your core values?

Respectfully,
Joseph and Victoria Ricca (both Republicans)
Morris Township
