Community Corner

Solar Screening Event

On Sunday, May 6, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, GreenFaith – an interfaith environmental coalition – and AP Solar will offer a Solar Screening Event at Morristown Unitarian Fellowship.  This event offers homeowners the chance to be screened for a zero-cost solar installation that would provide them with discounted electricity.  “We’re excited to host this event and invite all members of the community to join us to see if their roof is suitable for solar,” said Rev. Alison Miller.

At the Screening Event, there will be a monitor set up enabling interested homeowners to have their home screened via satellite photos to see if their roof appears to be suitable for solar.  “It’s an enjoyable, interesting way to learn about solar power,” said Rev. Fletcher Harper, GreenFaith’s Executive Director.  “We’re eager to work with faith-based sites around New Jersey to identify homeowners whose home qualifies for this great opportunity.”

For every home that successfully goes solar through this Solar Screening Event and related on-line registration, GreenFaith and AP Solar will make a $200 contribution to Morristown Unitarian Fellowship.  “We believe in giving back to the community,” said AP Solar CEO John Hooper.  “We believe in solar power and in the importance of the faith community.”

This offer is open to all New Jersey homeowners, and the public is welcome to this event.  This is a great time to invite friends and neighbors to join you to visit Morristown Unitarian Fellowship and also learn if their home might qualify for a no-cost solar installation.

For those who cannot be at the Screening Event, homeowners can register on-line at www.greenfaith.org to have their roof evaluated.
