Salvation Army Needs Holiday Bell Ringers for Annual Giving Effort

Bible-based evangelical part of the universal Christian Church seeks Morris County volunteers for its annual holiday donation collection campaign.

The Salvation Army is looking for 1,000 volunteers for its Red Kettle Campaign Morris County. The Salvation Army Dover Corps has just the solution for those looking for a way to give back to the community during the holidays: Donate a day of bell ringing at one of its 24 locations throughout West Morris County.

Salvation Army bell ringers will be on the job starting Nov. 22 for the holiday season and all year long, and you can volunteer to be one of them. The organization says it's fun, and it only takes five teams of two ringing the bell for two-hour shifts between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

“After you’ve done it once you’ll be hooked and will want to do it again and
again,” said Salvation Army Corps Public Relations Director Tammy Briggs, noting that 95 percent of volunteer bell ringers come back every year. "You can take a day or even start with a half of a day; whatever works for your schedule. Night shifts are also available for those on a more limited time schedule."

Many businesses, civic clubs, individuals and families volunteer to keep the bell
ringing. This year's Red Kettle Campaign runs Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., from Nov. 22 through Dec. 24. Monday - Saturday. Money raised from donation kettles goes to support over 300 families registered to receive holiday assistance through the Salvation Army’s Christmas Distribution
Program which includes more than 4,000 children and supports Salvation Army
programs and services all year long.
