Former Morristown Principal Takes New Post

Linda Murphy now director of community development at Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs.

Former Morristown High School Principal Linda Murphy has taken a new job, Director of Community Development, at Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs.

“Linda is an excellent addition to our team,” said Patrice Picard CEO of Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs. “Her knowledge of the community, coupled with her true passion to improve the lives of children, adults, and seniors make her the ideal fit for our Community Development function.”

According to Picard, Cornerstone Family Programs (formerly Family Service of Morris County), founded in 1813, and the Morristown Neighborhood House, founded in 1898, have been changing lives in the community for a combined 315 years.

In June of this year, Cornerstone Family Programs and the Morristown Neighborhood House joined forces to build better lives and stronger communities through high-quality professional services for 10,000 children, adults, and seniors in our community. Murphy’s position was created as a result of changes to these organizations.

“She will join David Haggerty, Interim Director, and Marjorie Herbert, Associate Executive Director, at the Neighborhood House and senior staff at Cornerstone to ensure our organizations continue to help individuals and communities live up to their full potential,” Picard said.

Murphy brings a wealth of experience and deep roots in the community. She spent 37 years in the Morris School District as a teacher, coach, and administrator. According to Picard, her most recent positions as Director of Human Resources and Community Engagement and Principal, along with her many leadership positions within the community make her uniquely qualified for the position.

“This is a unique opportunity to be part of two strong organizations at a pivotal time in their rich histories,” Murphy said. “I am looking forward to building on the past successes and working with the leadership team to bring even more positive change to the lives of children, adults, and seniors and to further strengthen our community.”
