Township Committee Candidate Says Thanks

To the Editor:

I want to express my gratitude to our community for the opportunity to run for the Morris Township Committee and for the support so many people offered in so many different ways. 

I especially loved the opportunity to interact with residents from every neighborhood and all political affiliations – the range of people, views, and stories was unforgettable to me!  Thank you to everyone who took the time to talk with me in person and on the phone. 

Thank you to my supporters for your awesome energy and encouragement.  Thank you to my detractors for revealing my “opportunities for learning.”  Thank you to Tim Quinn, Morris Township’s Business Administrator, for your willingness to share your detailed knowledge of how services are delivered to the public.  Thank you to my opponent, Peter Mancuso, for your friendly and gracious demeanor and for the gratifying sense of mutual respect we share.     

Special thanks to the many volunteers for your enthusiastic support, your tireless efforts at doing every job imaginable, and your generosity in contributing to every aspect of my campaign. 

Many people on both sides of the aisle have thanked me for running.  I appreciate that acknowledgement and humbly accept it.  I now see in a whole new way how running for office is vital to our two-party system.  Doing it myself has given me a new respect for anyone who gives it a serious try. The challenges are rigorous indeed! 

Although I did not win the election, a key energy of my campaign was to advance the notion that a healthy two-party system serves the best interest of our community.  Building on the efforts of my predecessors, my campaign did move that vision forward, and in that sense, our efforts were a win. 

THANK YOU TO ALL for this amazing opportunity to serve as an active participant in our political process and for all the various forms of support you offered along the way.
